Dharmendra`s demise has left a huge void in the Hindi film industry. It took losing a parent for Bobby Deol to reconcile and strengthen his relationship with his step-sisters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
In a recent interview, the actor opened up about how grief of losing his father has reshaped him in many ways than one. He also shared that incidents like this make you be more grateful and mindful about your family.
Bobby also got candid about how the grief brought him closer to his sisters and admitted having a sense of regret not doing this sooner.

Navigating the loss together has only strengthened the sibling bond, reflects the animal actor, saying, "There are all these days where I wish I had sat with him more. I wish I had asked him more questions."
"I feel we`re all dealing with it in our own ways. Sometimes you misunderstand each other because you`re hurting... everyone feels their pain is more than the other`s," he shared, adding, "But you give it time. Let it heal... Loss has its own way of bringing a family closer."

Bobby Deol also reflected on some of the fond memories he shared with Dharmendra and how the latter would share poems, verses rooted in his own remorse of not spending enough time with his father, Ewal Kishan Singh Deol (Bobby`s grandfather).
"That really moved me. But I suppose this is the cycle of life," the superstar reflected, acknowledging the love and regret over generations.
Bobby Deol on being more mindful
The experience of losing a parent has significantly changed his perspective on life and success. The Bads Of Bollywood star emphasises how such incidents make you think twice about the way you see life.

Emphasising the importance of family and professional achievements, Deol said, "Now more than ever, I`m mindful of being with my sons, my wife, and my family."
"The box office, the reviews, the roles – eventually they don`t matter, man. Success is measured in how much time you can afford to spend with the ones you love. What`s the point of fame and wealth when there`s no one to witness it with you?" he concluded.
Dharmendra died on November 25, 2025, at the age of 89.
