Celina Jaitley’s Marriage Turns Legal: Abuse Case Filed
Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has launched legal proceedings against her husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, filing a domestic violence case under India`s Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
The complaint, submitted in a Mumbai court, paints a disturbing picture of a marriage marred by alleged emotional, physical, sexual, verbal, and financial abuse.
According to court s, Celina has demanded ₹50 crore in compensation for the damages she claims to have suffered during the marriage.
She is also asking for monthly maintenance of ₹10 lakh and unrestricted virtual and telephonic access to her three children, who are currently in their father`s custody in Austria.

In her plea, Celina alleges that her husband systematically eroded her financial independence. She claims that after marriage, he prevented her from working, gradually gaining control over her income and assets.
She even accuses him of coercing her into transferring her Mumbai residence to his name during a particularly vulnerable time — when she was grieving both the death of a newborn child and the loss of her parents.
Beyond financial manipulation, the actress describes a pattern of severe abuse. She alleges that Peter Haag repeatedly subjected her to verbal humiliation, including racially degrading remarks, calling her his “maidservant” and suggesting people would mistake her for household help.
She further claims that his behaviour at times turned violent and controlling, forcing her to flee their home in Austria suddenly one night and return to India for her safety.
Celina’s legal team, headed by the law firm Karanjawala & Co., presented her application on November 21, 2025, before Judicial Magistrate First Class S.C. Tadye at the Andheri court in Mumbai.
The magistrate has issued a notice to Haag, and the next hearing is scheduled for December 12.
In her petition, the actress describes Haag as “narcissistic” and “self-absorbed”, accusing him of displaying no empathy towards her or their children and exhibiting a short temper and “alcoholic tendencies”.
She adds that his repeated abuse has caused significant mental distress and affected her self-esteem. Celina has also asked the court to restrain Haag from entering or meddling with their joint Andheri residence.
Furthermore, she is seeking the return of her personal belongings—including jewellery, s, and other articles—which she claims are wrongfully being withheld by her husband.
In addition to this domestic violence suit, Celina has a separate civil case pending in the Bombay City Civil Court. She wants to cancel a gift deed dated January 14, 2019, through which the couple’s shared property was transferred to Haag.
This legal battle comes amid wider personal turmoil. Earlier this year, Celina moved a Delhi court in connection with her brother’s detention in the UAE, adding further strain to her already strained family life.
