Emergency Update: Kangana Ranaut To Make Cuts Demanded By CBFC
Kangana Ranaut`s Emergency has been in the headlines for quite some time now. The actor-turned-director will be helming the biopic on late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. After multiple delays and changes demanded by CBFC, the movie was pushed back for quite some time.
Now, we have a new update about the political drama. Kangana Ranaut has agreed to make the necessary changes and requested cuts in Emergency.
For the uninitiated, the movie was initially slated to release in June 2024. However, due to the general elections, it was pushed ahead to September. Despite the changes in the release date, the movie was pushed indefinitely as the Central Board of Film Certification demanded more cuts in the final reel.
As per a report by Bar and Bench, advocate Sharan Jagtiani representing Zee stated that Kangana is okay to make the required changes but has requested the court to ensure that these are the only and final edits expected.

"The cuts suggested don`t even touch a minute of the film. It`s just some words here and there," said the DY, Chief Justice of India. Further, it was reported that the hearing for the film has now been postponed and rescheduled to Thursday.
The CBFC has issued a U/A certificate to Kangana Ranaut`s directorial debut, but the release date of Emergency hasn`t been announced yet.

Speaking to News18, Kangana said, “Naturally, my film was supposed to release. I put all my personal property on it. Now that it`s not released, so anyway, that`s what properties are for—for times of crisis.”
Further criticizing the film industry, she added, "It`s happened in the past too. There have been films like `Padmaavat` and `Udta Punjab`, which were released quite smoothly. There were threats to chop off someone`s nose or someone`s neck, but the government protected them, and they were released."
