Kannada actor Darshan requests court to give him poison
Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is behind bars on murder charges of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, broke down in court after his request for transfer from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison to Ballari jail was rejected. He was seen in tears as he had yet another bizarre plea in the court.
For the uninitiated, Darshan`s case is related to the death of a man named Renukaswamy, a fan who sent obscene messages to actress Pavithra, a close aid of the Kaatera actor.
Darshan, along with Pavithra Gowda and several others, was taken into custody and accused of abducting and torturing Renukaswamy. He eventually succumbed to the torture.
Darshan requests the court to poison him
After the court found no valid grounds for the request of transfer from one jail to another, the culprit broke down and told the judge, "Just poison me; please pass this order." This triggered a sharp response.

“I don’t want anything for anyone. It has been nearly a month since I have seen sunlight. My hands are getting a fungal infection… Life here has become unbearable," he reportedly said.
The judge reprimanded him and said, “You cannot say such things.” Reacting to the same, Darshan nodded and remained silent.
However, the court felt pity and allowed him some concessions, including restricted movement around the jail premises and additional bedding with extra pillows and bedsheets as per the prison manual.
More about Darshan`s case
The Kurukshetra actor, along with Pavithra, was arrested last year on June 11. Fifteen more people were also accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan spent 131 days in jail and was granted an interim bail on October 30.

On December 13, the Karnataka High Court granted the two actors regular bail. This decision was challenged by the Karnataka state government in front of the Supreme Court.
On August 14, the top court denied the bail granted by the state HC, resulting in putting Darshan behind bars again.
The court also warned that any violation of rules, malpractice, or misbehaviour could empower the Inspector General of Prisons to take necessary disciplinary actions, including transferring the inmate.
