Siddharth Anand reacts to Shah Rukh Khan`s King look
The first look of Siddharth Anand`s King was released on Shah Rukh Khan`s 60th birthday. Moments after the big reveal, fans were quick to draw comparisons between SRK`s look and that of Brad Pitt in F1, especially a scene where he is wearing a blue denim shirt with a dark beige jacket.
Some claimed that the look was inspired byJoseph Kosinski`s blockbuster sports drama, which was released earlier this year.
That shouldn`t have come as a surprise, given Anand`s coincidental beef with F1, given the parallels drawn with one of his films, Ta Ra Rum Pum, which was also based on Formula One racing.
Somehow, the comparisons and controversies have been associated with his films. Be it Deepika Padukone`s orange bikini in Besharam Rang or calling Fighter a rip-off of Tom Cruise`s Top Gun series.
Siddharth Anand`s response to trolls
The filmmaker, known for his honest and witty tweets, took to X (formerly Twitter) and responded to the constant comparisons. He called it "funny logic" while slamming the trolls.
Taking it to the micro-blogging site on Monday, he wrote, "Funny logic from haters these days. If a Bollywood film contains a fighter jet that is a copy of Top Gun, a ship that is a copy of the Titanic, the same dress code as F1, and an orange dress that is anti-Hindu (crying emoji). Their IQ level has been like buffering since 1947."
Anand added a couple of laughing emojis to his satirical tweet.
The director is also well-known for taking indirect digs at other filmmakers. His recent tweet on Shah Rukh Khan`s 60th birthday was reportedly a dig at filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who referred to Prabhas as "India`s biggest superstar".
Siddharth Anand wished SRK well and wrote, "When stars go beyond being `simply a superstar`, they are named (crown emoji)." Happy Birthday, INDIA`S KING."
