Raid 2 Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn Starrer Opens At 18 Crore

Raid 2 box office collection on day 1
One of the most anticipated Bollywood sequels, Raid 2, has finally hit the theatres on May 1. The Ajay Devgn starrer is a political thriller drama which sees him reviving his role as Amay Patnaik, an honest income tax officer. The film also brings in fresh faces like Ritesh Deshmukh and Vaani Kapoor in the lead.
The first instalment of the film, which was released in 2018, had spectacular reviews. While the second part is garnering mixed-to-positive reviews, it is going strong at the box office.
As per the latest update on Sacnik.com, Raid 2 has had an impressive opening haul, collecting over 18 crore. The reports also suggest Raid 2 is one of Ajay Devgn`s best-performing movies in terms of commercials post-pandemic.
Raid 2 box office update
The Sacnik report stated that the recent release collected 18.25 crore on its opening day. These were the early estimate numbers. It had almost 31.81% occupancy on Thursday. While the morning shows were a little slower, the occupancy showed growth in the evening shows.
Raid 2 has had a better opening than Devgn`s 2020 release, Drishyam 2, which opened at 15.38 crore at the domestic box office. The drama thriller also performed significantly better than Sunny Deol`s Jaat 2, which opened at 9.50 crore.
However, the Ajay Devgn-Ritesh Deshmukh starrer failed to cross Vicky Kaushal`s Chhava`s opening day collection, which was 31 crore, marking the biggest opening of 2025.
While Friday is a slower, Raid 2 seems to be the audience`s first choice when compared to other movies like Sanjay Dutt`s The Bhootnii or Nani`s Hit 3: The Third Chapter.

The political thriller drama is all about carrying forward the story of the 2018 blockbuster, Raid. Ajay returns as the disciplined and honest Indian Revenue Service Officer, Amay Patnaik, who conducts a raid on Dada Bhai Manohar (Riteish).

Vaani Kapoor, who plays Ajay Devgn`s wife, replaced Ileana D`Cruz in the second instalment. While many questioned this decision, the Singham actor cleared the air in one of the press releases.
He said, "You see it in a lot of Hollywood films as well. Still, Sean Connery is not the only James Bond. It’s the character you follow, and then new people keep coming in.”
Apart from the leading actors, Raid 2 also features actors like Saurabh Shukla, Surpiya Pathak, Amit Sial, and Rajay Kapoor in prominent roles. The film hit the theatres on May 1.
