When Shefali Jariwala Spoke About Kaanta Laga Song
The internet was left stumped after learning about Shefali Jariwala`s sudden demise. The Bollywood actress passed away on Saturday, June 27, at her Mumbai home after she suffered from a brutal cardiac arrest.
The industry is still recovering from the 42-year-old`s untimely death. In light of the tragic event, an old interview of Shefali has been doing the rounds where she spoke about her journey to fame through the iconic Kaanta Laga song.
In the same interview, she recalled the amount she was paid for her appearance and how her father was completely against the same.
Shefali Jariwala`s journey to fame
In an old interview with the Times of India, the Bigg Boss 13 fame recalled becoming an overnight sensation after the remix of an old Bollywood song, Kaanta Laga, became a massive hit.
She recalled being spotted by directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who approached her to feature in the music video. Jariwala recalled receiving the signing amount and said, "I was in college then, and I come from a family of academicians, so my parents told me to focus on my studies. But I wanted to do it because I was getting paid for it. I earned Rs 7,000 from that song, and I wanted to see myself on TV."

She further revealed how her father was completely against the idea of her entering the entertainment industry and, moreover, featuring in a music video which was way ahead of its time.
"My father was completely against it. So first, I took my mom into confidence, and then we both convinced my father. And that song turned out to be such a hit that it was like a fairytale for me. It changed my life completely," Shefali added.

The late actress rose to fame in 2002 with the music video for Kaanta Laga, a remix of an old Bollywood song. It became a massive hit and continues to be an iconic track, especially for the millennials.
She later appeared in the film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi alongside Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, and Salman Khan. She went on to make her digital debut with the adult comedy series Baby Come Na in 2018. She even participated in the celebrity reality dance show Nach Baliye 5 with her now-husband, Parag Tyagi.
However, the Kaanta Laga music video was her career-defining moment that went on to become a major pop-culture moment in the early 2000s.
