Sushmita Sen Shares First Powerful Look From Taali, To Play Transgender Gauri Sawant In Her Biopic

Sushmita Sen is known to essay powerful roles that leave an impact on you. Be it Mai Hoon Na or Arya, her characters never fail to impress us. Speaking of great roles, the actress`s upcoming movie is one of such great stories. Sharing the first look of her new project where she portrays a transgender, Sushmita took to Instagram to announce she will be playing the lead in Taali.
A biopic on transgender activist Gauri Sawant, Sushmita Sen will be seen playing the lead. In the post, she`s seen wearing a red and green saree, donning a big maroon bindi, and gesturing a transgender signature clap. She captioned her post, “Taali - बजाऊँगी नहीं, बजवाऊँगी ! (won`t clap, will ask others to clap). Nothing makes me prouder & more grateful than to have the privilege of portraying this beautiful person & of bringing her story to the world!!” referring to Gauri.
“Here’s to life & to everyone’s right to live it with dignity!!! (hand folded emoji) I love you guys!!! #duggadugga”, she further added. Fans praised her for nailing the look and so did her sister-in-law Charu Asopa.
For the unversed, Gauri Sawant is a Mumbai-based transgender activist. She was featured in Vicks ad as an unconvetional mother who decided to adopt a girl child and break the stereotypical gender representation. She also appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati along with singer Usha Uthup who helped her raise funds to built a house for sex workers in Kharghar.
