If there`s someone who has redefined the South Indian film industry with poise and prominence, it has to be Kamal Haasan. He entered with zero acting experience but a burning passion for being a storyteller and soon became a household name with movies like Chachi 420, Indian, Hey Ram, and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, among others.
The actor turns 69 today. With some interesting projects lined up for him, Kamal Haasan still remains a beacon of versatility, even in the second innings of his life. Speaking of new projects, the legendary actor has yet again joined hands with Mani Ratnam for an action-packed entertainer called KH234.
It features the veteran actor in rugged clothes, sporting long hair and a dense stubble look. In the teaser, Kamal says, “My name is Rengaraya Sakthivel Nayakan.”

As a group of menacing people race towards him with lethal weapons, he is seen talking to the camera. The actor further adds, “Kayalpattu Kaaran. The moment I was born, they decided my fate: I was a criminal. In Japanese, Yakuza means gangster.”
After the intriguing dialogue, Haasan goes on to disrobe his hood and reveal his special martial arts costume, which is also rugged. What follows are some brilliantly choreographed action sequences by Anbumani and Arivumani (the AnbAriv duo).
What captivates the Thug Life teaser is the authentic South Tamil accent, which seamlessly flows with oppressive costumes. While the teaser doesn`t tell if the film is set in the past or in a futuristic fantasy world, it doesn`t fail to make the audience inquisitive.
The music is composed by maestro AR Rahman, thus bringing out yet another masterpiece. It is after three decades that Ratnam and Haasan will collaborate to bring a big-screen magical experience.
It was in the 1987 release of Nayakan that the two worked together. Thug Life is all set to release in 2024.
