Celebs congratulate the women in blue for a historic win
Navi Mumbai`s DY Patil Stadium roared with pride as the Indian Women`s Cricket Team created history by winning the glorious ODI World Cup 2025 against South Africa.
The Indian women played their first cricket match in 1976. It has been nearly 50 years, and they haven`t been able to win a single World Cup. On Sunday, the Indian women`s team won their maiden World Cup, making every Indian proud.
With Deepti Sharma`s five-wicket haul and Shafali Verma`s 87 off 78 balls along with two wickets, the women in blue, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, played a magnificent game and brought home the shining trophy.
Amid the goosebumps-worthy moment, many celebrities and cricketers congratulated the team and celebrated the historic win.

PeeCee took to her Instagram stories and shared the team`s picture, writing, “Congratulations to our champions #TeamIndia."
Kareena admitted getting emotional after the win. She shared a video of the winning moment and wrote, “Still crying tears of joy” with a heart emoji.
Anushka Sharma wrote, "You champions!"! SUCH A momentous achievement," while Kiara Advani added, "What an incredible moment; you have created history!!! Congratulations to our Women in Blue."

Cricketer Virat Kohli feels this win will inspire a generation of girls to take up the sport. He credited Harmanpreet Kaur and the entire support staff for the historic win.

Kohli took to Instagram and wrote, "The girls have created history, and I couldn’t be more proud as an Indian to see the hard work of so many years come to life finally. They deserve all the applause, and a big congratulations to Harman and the whole team for achieving this historic feat. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar compared the win to the 1983 men`s World Cup final and wrote, “1983 inspired an entire generation to dream big. Today, our women’s team has done something truly special. They have inspired countless young girls to pick up a bat and ball, take the field and believe that they too can lift that trophy one day.”
