TV actor Ashish Kapoor arrested on rape charges
Popular television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his roles in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Bandini, and Sasural Simar Ka 2, has been arrested in Pune on rape charges, police confirmed.
The arrest followed a complaint by a woman who alleged she was sexually assaulted at a house party in Delhi in August 2025.
Case details and arrest
The woman alleged that the incident took place inside a washroom at the Delhi party. She initially named multiple individuals in her complaint but later revised her statement to accuse only Kapoor.
Police investigations included reviewing CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, which reportedly showed Kapoor and the complainant entering the washroom together and staying inside for an extended period. The incident allegedly led to an argument after others at the party intervened.
Following the complaint, an FIR was filed on August 11 under charges of rape. A special team tracked Kapoor’s movements from Delhi to Goa and later to Pune, where he was arrested on September 3, 2025.
The complainant also claimed that the assault was filmed, though investigators have yet to recover any such recording. Police are continuing to examine digital evidence while statements from witnesses are being collected.

Ashish Kapoor, born in 1984, first appeared on TV in Ssshhhh…Koi Hai and went on to feature in several popular daily soaps. His personal life has also drawn media attention, including past relationships with actor Priyal Gor and producer Pearl Grey, to whom he was once engaged.
In the wake of the allegations, Kapoor’s Instagram account has been deactivated, with reports suggesting this was done to avoid public backlash as the case gains national attention.
