Whether you’re an ardent fan or simply a passive listener, you’ll probably agree that the singer-songwriter genre has quickly become a critical pillar of the independent music circuit here in India. This also means there are hundreds of artists trying to capitalize on this moment. As far as Hindi singer-songwriters go, Osho Jain has had a trajectory of his own, skyrocketing in streams thanks to emotive songs like “Khush To Hai Na” in 2019 and “Khud Se,” off his debut EP Wahaan or his latest single "Usko Sab Pata Hai".
Osho started his music journey with a folk rock band called Aankh Micholi. On being asked how he moved on from a band to being a solo artist, he responds "When I was playing folk rock with Aank Micholi I always used to write songs just for myself. Honestly when i wrote my first song I didnt kniow there was a term called singer-songwriter. All I knew was that there are bands who play music together or music directors who make music for films or there are pop artists. So I used to feel that I will have to become a music director for the songs that I write to be included in film soundtracks. I am an accidental singer-songwriter, all I ever wanted to do was to tell people what I feel."
