The internet was shaking and quaking when the 70th national award winners were announced. While many regional movies stood out, what grabbed everyones attention was how the South Indian cinema was roaring with stories that are incredibly gripping. Lets have a look at five South Indian national award-winning movies that are a must-watch.
1. Aattam: Malayalam
Headlined by Zarin Shihab, Sudheer Babu, and Vinay Forrt, Aattam is a thriller drama that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. 2. KGF Chapter 2: Kannada
After Rocky successfully rises as the leader and savior of the Kolar Gold Fields, he is just one step away from fulfilling his mother's last wish. But to do the same, he has to tackle Adheera, Inaayat Khalil, and Ramika Sen.The Kannada blockbuster stars Yash, Srinidhi, Raveen Tandon, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. KGF Chapter 2 won the national award for best Kannada film.
3. Ponniyin Selvan 1: Tamil
The Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram starrer was a beautiful ode to the Chola Dynasty, who asserted their power for over 1500 years in Southern India. Helmed by Mani Ratnam, PS:1 received the national award for best Tamil film.4. Karthikeya 2: Telugu
A gripping amalgamation of science and mythology, Karthikeya 2 is about a doctor who is on a mission to clear his name by retriving mythological treasures. It became the highest-grossing film of August 2022.5. Kantara: Kannada
Rishab Shetty and his magnimous storytelling of India's regional folklore will transport you to remote villages of southern India and their beliefs in local gods who are the protectors of the territories.Kantara won the national award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The sequel to the Kannada blockbuster is already in works.
