He has been dating actress Richa Chadha over four years. The couple first met on the sets of ‘Fukrey’. Fun fact is that Richa was the one to make the move first and confess her feelings for him. He reciprocated to her confession after three months. The two had planned to tie the knot in April 2020 but had to postpone, following the outbreak of the global pandemic.
Ali is the youngest Indian actor to be conferred as the member by the Academy Awards.
On the actors birthday in 2017, he was gifted a royal dinner set by Judi Dench, as a souvenir from the Osbourne House, which happens to be the former residence of Britains royal family.
On the sets of ‘Victoria and Abdul’, Ali would teach Urdu to Judi Dench everyday, in between the shots for three months. The actors did use these sessions between them, on-screen.
Unlike popular perception which believes that Ali made his debut in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiiots’, the actor was first seen in filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s Ek Tho Chance which never released as the production house behind it shut shop.
Having played a musician in ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Fukrey’, the actor is known to be musically inclined. He can sing and play the guitar too.
