Korean actor Jung Eun-woo passes away at 39
South Korean actor Jung Eun-woo, beloved for his heartfelt performances and steady rise in the K-drama world, has died at the age of 39, leaving fans and industry figures reeling from the unexpected news.
His family confirmed his passing on February 11, 2026, though the cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, deepening the mystery surrounding his sudden departure.
Jung’s career spanned nearly two decades, beginning in 2006 when he made his debut with Sharp 3, a youth drama that marked the start of his long journey in Korean television.
Born Jung Dong-jin, he eventually gained recognition for roles in series such as Bride of the Sun, Five Fingers, One Well-Raised Daughter, The Return of Hwang Geum-bok and My Only One.
Though he frequently appeared in supporting roles, his presence was always memorable - subtle, grounded and sincere. His breakout into international recognition came with Welcome to Waikiki 2, which introduced him to a broader global audience.

Just one day before his passing, he shared a haunting Instagram post featuring images of the late Leslie Cheung and British singer Amy Winehouse alongside a photo of himself, captioned simply: “Missed, jealous, sorry”.
Fans and observers have since speculated heavily on its meaning, with some interpreting as a poignant, reversed nod to “”GB.RIP” - shorthand for “Goodbye, Rest In Peace.
The emotional weight of that post clearly resonated with followers. After news of his death spread, fans returned to it in droves, leaving heartfelt comments such as, “He was definitely saying goodbye. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
Others wrote messages like, “Eun-woo, you worked so hard. Rest in peace, my friend.”
Tributes have also poured in from colleagues in the Korean entertainment circle. Broadcaster Park Seul-gi shared a heartfelt message remembering Jung’s warmth and dedication, saying, “I hope you forget the bad memories and find happiness there.”
Another actor, Kim Yoon-seo, expressed deep sorrow, writing, “I’m sorry. I let you go like this without even saying goodbye properly.”
Jung Eun-woo’s funeral arrangement is underway at the New Goryeo Hospital Funeral Hall in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, with services scheduled later this week.
Fans around the world continue to mourn a performer whose quiet commitment and memorable roles made a lasting impression on Korean television.
