Tragedy Strikes Kantara 2 Set: Junior Artist Dies in Drowning Accident

"Kantara" Prequel Tragedy
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred during a lunch break when Kapil went for a swim in the river. He was reportedly caught by a strong current and swept away. Despite immediate search and rescue operations launched by local authorities and the fire department, his body was recovered later in the evening.
A case has been registered at the Kollur police station, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to this devastating accident. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the film`s production team.
This is not the first time the "Kantara: Chapter 1" production has faced unforeseen challenges. Earlier, a bus carrying junior artists overturned, resulting in injuries to some. Additionally, adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and rain, had previously caused significant damage to a costly film set. There were also reports of the film crew facing scrutiny from the forest department regarding alleged disturbance of the natural habitat during shooting.
Despite these setbacks, the makers have reaffirmed that the film is on track for its scheduled release on October 2, 2025. "Kantara: Chapter 1" is a prequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful "Kantara," which was released in 2022. The prequel, directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, is set during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi and also features prominent actors such as Jayaram, Kishore, and Jayasurya.
