The city will be a riot of colours and celebration, with devotees queuing up outside pandals to get a glimpse of their favourite deity. Here are some Bollywood films that capture the spirit of Mumbai’s Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
1. Agneepath (2012)
This action-drama film showcases the grandeur of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the song “Deva Shree Ganesha," especially the immersion ceremony, which plays a crucial role in the storyline.
2. Vaastav: The Reality (1999)
This crime drama explores the darker side of life in Mumbai, but it also features heartfelt scenes of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, reflecting the contrasting emotions of the protagonist. The movie track “Shendur Lal Chadayo” is one of the most popular ganesh aartis played at public celebrations in India.
3. Sarkar 3 (2017)
This political thriller uses the backdrop of Ganesh Chaturthi to symbolise the film's themes of power, corruption, and redemption. Amitabh Bachchan’s rendition of Ganpati aarti is a staple at households and public celebrations.
4. Don (2006)
