Did you know that Rohit Shetty's original choice to play the role of Meenalochni Azhagusundaram was Katrina Kaif? Having already shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, this would've been another superhit collaboration.However, Katrina turned down the role as she wasn't comfortable playing the character and its South Indian dialect. It was then passed on to Deepika Padukone, who took everyone by surprise with her phenomenal performance.
2. Gunday
The Tiger 3 actress was the original choice for Ali Abbas Zafar's action thriller. Katrina Kaif had previously worked with the filmmaker on Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. He wanted to cast her for the role of Inspector Nandita Sengupta.However, due to her hectic work schedule and the unavailability of dates, she had to pass on the role to Priyanka Chopra.
3. Barfi
Yes, you read this one right. Anurag Basu wanted to cast Katrina as Ranbir Kapoor's lover in the film. However, she rejected the role for reasons best known to her. Her loss became Ileana D'Cruz's gain, and the film went on to become a commercial success.4. Half Girlfriend
Mohit Suri's romantic drama was an adaptation of author Chetan Bhagat's novel that goes by the same name. According to reports, the makers approached Katrina to play the lead role.However, she wasn't sure she could play the role of a college student and rejected the script. Shraddha Kapoor became the face of the film, sharing the screen with Arjun Kapoor.
5. Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani
Ayan Mukerji, who shares a close bond with Ranbir Kapoor, wanted to rope in Katrina Kaif for the role of Naina. However, the actress passed on the opportunity to collaborate with her ex-boyfriend, stating professional commitments.Deepika Padukone essayed the role of Naina Talwar. The film went on to shatter several box office records and become a commercial success.
