Mukesh Chhabra, apart from having professional ties with the late Sushant Singh Rajput, was also his very close friend. In an interview, he revealed some inside details about Sushant. He said that it is difficult for him to still listen to the songs of Sushant as he gets affected by the memories associated with the song.

Further, he revealed how the Kai Po Che actor was oversensitive and would get easily affected by things happening to him. He said, "It was during the pandemic. If I knew what he was going through, I would've gone and spoken to him. We used to meet very often. From his first film to his last one, our relationship remained strong."

He said that Sushant was his best friend. "He would get affected very easily. He would get upset with people very easily. He would get very upset if he read a negative article about himself. He was an oversensitive person we all are."

He revealed how Sushant would get affected whenever he lost roles in certain films and would also take to heart any criticism he heard about him. Whenever he read negative articles about him being circulated, it would make him feel bad.

Dil Bechara was the last film in which Sushant Singh Rajput starred that was released after his death. It was directed by Mukesh Chhabra in his debut as a director. The film also starred Sanjana Sanghi and was released on Disney+ in 2020. It was based on the book The Fault in Our Stars.

Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on July 14, 2020, at his residence in Bandra, which shocked everyone to the core. It sparked up a huge controversy and began the debates around toxicity in Bollywood in terms of who gets what kind of work. At the same time, Sushant's family made accusations against his girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, for abetment of suicide.
