Everyone has an inner haunting that we are following - OAFF

Starting his journey as an indie musician and composer OAFF released a few really beautiful tracks like "Perpetuate" , "Frontline" , "For a while" , he has lately stepped in the India Film music scene and has worked on the music for films like Gehraiyaan , Kho Gaye Hum Kahaan . Musicians are the SRK`S of Indie music - Amit Trivedi

Musicians are the SRK`S of Indie music - Amit Trivedi

Amit Trivedi released a 11 song album later last year on his label AT Azaad and all the songs are banger clib numbers. In a recent interview with him at our studios , upon asking him that which kind of music does likes working on more- his independent stuff or film music , he said" Independent music gives me freedom to express my emotions on a clean slate and I'm the hero when im making music, musicians are the Shahrukh Khans of independent music but having said that film music has its own beauty . Sometimes working according to director's or producer's point of view really outs you into perspective and brings out a piece which you never expected yourself to come-up with. One such example would be working with 'Gattu' the film director for movie 'Kedarnath' where he borught out the beautiful song 'Namo Namo' out of me post 2-3 revisions.Watch this full chat here :Listen to his new Album here :

It`s great to win an award but the real world is something different- Anurag Saikia

"It`s great to win an award but the real world is something different"- Anurag Saikia

Anurag Saikia has been dishing out quality music for quite some time. For most music lovers the name Anurag Saikia is associated with webseries' and films like Mulk, Article 15, Panchayat, Mismatched but the young composer is the recipient of the prestigious Rajat Kamal in 2013, the National Award for scoring for the Assamese docu-feature Yugadrashta. While most people will feel the recognition will catapult the musician's career to another level, but that was not quite the case with Anurag"Starngely enough, not much happened ion my life post the national award. It may help certain people but for me suddenly work stopped coming my way for about 10/11 months. On the contrary my social media was flooded with congratulatory messages. For me the struggle was actually a bit more post the national award compared to the time I started out. There can be another possibility, in 2013 I was very young to realise how big or prestigious the national award is. Having said that every year 100-150 people receive this recognition. The real challenge is the real world. Its great to win an award but the real world is something different. Its a moment, you can celebrate for a day or two or may a couple of weeks, but not more than that. It will make your life difficult," says Anurag.

Inheritance is what you make of it- Purbayan Chatterjee

"Inheritance is what you make of it"- Purbayan Chatterjee

Purbayan Chatterjee is considered as one of the finest Sitar players in Indian Classical music. He belongs to the famous Senia Maihar Gharana, the school established by musical genius Baba Allauddin Khan, the guru of such stars as Ustad Ali Akbar Khan on the sarod and sitar players Pandit Ravi Shankar and Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. Along with his concerts of North Indian raga music, he also performs with musicians rom the South Indian raga tradition and participates in various fusion projects with jazz and world musicians all over the globe. His musical journey began under his father Shri Parthapratim Chatterjee's tutelage. On being asked about the pressure of inheriting musical knowledge, Purbayan Chatterjee quickly explains"Inheritance is what you make of it. On its own it does have an intrinsic value because it has been passed on to you through generations and you are lucky that you did not have to go and acquire it but the value of it diminishes in time if you can't make it grow. Inheritance of art is very similar to inheritance of wealth. A prime example of it is Dhirubhai Ambani and what the Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil have done with the wealth that they acquired. It is not just the wealth but also the infrastructure that they built around it and also the business kingdom they carried forward. In music you may inherit your 'taalim' you may inherit your musical knowledge but your musical vision is your own, nobody else can give you that. You have go to figure that out on your own. It's what you do with the inheritance, what you leave behind is what matters."
