The makers of the highly anticipated sci-fi film "Kalki 2898 AD" recently held a grand pre-release event, bringing together a star-studded cast that included Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. The event generated significant buzz, with media attention particularly focused on Kamal Haasan's distinct and enigmatic appearance in the film.
Haasan discusses his look for Supreme Yaskin
During the event, Haasan shed light on his unique character design in the film. He revealed that the team, in a collaborative effort, meticulously crafted his look, even going as far as making multiple trips to Los Angeles to perfect it. "We travelled to LA we failed a couple of times before we arrived at the acceptable look," Haasan explained. "So, it's a collaboration. I hope the audience will react the same way we did when we saw the first look."Kamal Haasan's role in "Kalki 2898 AD" marks a departure from his usual hero persona. He plays Supreme Yaskin, the film's antagonist. As Haasan himself admitted, "I was backstage with Amit ji [Amitabh Bachchan] about how I always wanted to play a bad man because the bad man gets to do all the good things. Where the heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, he can just go ahead and do what he wants."
However, Haasan also hinted at a twist to his character, stating, "I thought I'm going to play the bad man, so it's going to be fun. But then he wanted it to be different. I'm almost like a sage in the film with a bad idea."

The Genesis of a Distinctive Look
Haasan further elaborated on the creative process behind his character's menacing bald look. He emphasised the desire to avoid clicheacutes and create a visually unique persona. "We had a lot to talk about, and it also did not look like something else that I had done already or somebody else had done already," he said. With a touch of humour, Haasan recounted his initial ideas that were ultimately scrapped due to clashes with his co-stars' characters. "[I thought] I would dress myself up in such a way that people would turn around and look at me," he said. "'I'll do research,' and I got to know that 'Amit ji is doing it'. Then I thought, I'll come with armour I was told, 'Prabhas has got that'. I didn't want to be pregnant in the film otherwise, I would've tried that as well. With a good director, even that would've been possible," Haasan quipped.
