Kangana Ranaut On Selling Her Pali Hill Bungalow Amid Emergency Release Postpone

Kangana Ranaut, one of the successful actors who also turned politician, often makes it to headlines for her controversial comments on the Hindi film industry, nepotism, and criticizing her peers for lack of support. With her upcoming film Emergency being postponed, she recalls selling her Pali Hill bungalow due to financial crunch.

For the uninitiated, the actress, who will also be directing the upcoming political drama, plays the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Emergency narrates the dark incident in India's political history.

In a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut opened up about selling her bungalow in Bandra's Pali Hill due to a financial crunch. She even criticized the entire film industry for not supporting her during her tough times.

The Tanu Weds Manu actor's upcoming political drama recently received a U/A certificate from CBFC, however, the battle was not an easy one. After fighting several cases, postponing the release date, and having questions raised on her credibility, Kangana has certainly gone through a lot to get a nod from CBFC.

Now, in an interview with News18, the actress opened up about selling her bungalow due to a major financial crunch and criticized the industry for lack of support.

She revealed that her Pali Hill bungalow was sold for a whopping Rs. 32 crore, which she used to pump in more finances for her directorial debut.

'Naturally, my film was supposed to release. I put all my personal property on it. Now that it's not released, so anyway, that's what properties are for - for times of crisis,' Ranaut said.

When Kangana Ranaut criticized the film industry

Further criticizing the industry, she said, "It's happened in the past too. There have been films like 'Padmaavat' and 'Udta Punjab', which were released quite smoothly. There were threats to chop off someone's nose, someone's neck, but the government protected them, and they were released."

"But when it came to my film's release, no onemdashespecially no one from the Congress partymdashsupported me, not even the film industry. I definitely feel like I'm on my own. When I see this kind of narrow-minded thinking, what kind of hope would I be left with?" Kangana Ranaut added.

Concluding her thoughts, the actor-politician said, "The film industry is celebrating that my self-financed film didn't release. I am in the loneliest corner of the world."

While the U'A certificate from CBFC has passed, Emergency is yet to have a release date.
