While some arrive solo, others love showing off their mushy PDA. As the latest event of fashion's biggest night is around the corner, we have a look at couples who walked the red carpet but broke up later.

For the uninitiated, the Met Gala 2024 theme is all about 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.' Hosted by Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, celebrities from across the globe will walk the carpet in the most inventive and experiential style of the year.

As the Met Gala starts on May 6, here's a look at four couples who broke up after appearing at the event together. Let's see who made it to the list.

1. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd

Pop sensation Selena Gomez took everyone by surprise as she walked with her plus one to the 2017 Met Gala with The Weeknd. The Lose You To Love Me singer and the Idol judge dated for 10 months in 2017.

The two started dating as soon as Selena broke up with Justin Bieber and the 'RampB' singer parted ways with Bella Hadid. The couple was first spotted at a dinner in January 2017, and soon after, they formally acknowledged their relationship.

However, Selena and The Weeknd called it quits in October 2017.

2. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth

The infamous couple who started off strong but ended on a rather controversial note, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, walked the 2019 Met Gala. The couple dated for several years before tying the knot in 2018.

However, they ended things and finalized a divorce in 2020.

3. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello

One of the hottest couples in Hollywood, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, brought their fashion A-game to the Met Gala 2021 and rose the temperatures effortlessly.

While Cabello looked stunning in a purple crop top with a matching skirt, Mendes flaunted his chiseled physique in an open leather jacket paired with black pants. The two started dating in 2019 but parted ways in November 2021.

They even released a joint statement saying, "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever."

4. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik

Despite their on-and-off relationship, the former couple welcomed an adorable daughter named Khai in 2020. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik slayed and swayed in robotic looks at the 2016 Met Gala.


Even though the couple split in 2021 after an alleged incident between Zayn and Gigi's mother, Yolanda, they continue to co-parent their daughter.
