Priyanka Chopra, the global icon and founder of Purple Pebble Pictures, has shared the first trailer for her upcoming Marathi film, Paani. The movie, which addresses the pressing issue of water scarcity, promises to be an emotionally compelling and socially relevant story. Directed by Adinath Kothare, Paani is all set to hit theatres on October 18.

Set in the village of Nagderwadi, in Nanded, Maharashtra, Paani brings attention to the urgent issue of water scarcity, a problem that affects many rural parts of India. The movie follows Hanumant Kendre, played by Adinath Kothare, a visionary who dedicates his life to transforming water conservation practices in the drought-prone Marathwada region.The film highlights the challenges faced by villagers who are forced to abandon their homes in search of better lives in cities. However, those who choose to stay fight for their survival, embarking on a mission to find a water source.
The movie features an ensemble cast, including Rucha Vaidya, Subodh Bhave, Rajit Kapur, Kishore Kadam, Nitin Dixit, Sachin Goswami, and Vikas Pandurang Patil. These actors bring to life the struggles of people trying to survive amid a worsening water crisis.

Adinath Kothare's portrayal of Hanumant Kendre is inspired by the real-life figure who is known for revolutionising water conservation efforts in Marathwada after a personal incident changed his perspective.
The trailer hints at a romantic story unfolding amidst the crisis, drawing inspiration from Hanumant Kendre's real life. A girl once refused to marry him because his village didn't have water becomes the pivotal moment that drives him to make a significant impact in his community. This blend of personal and social struggles adds a layer of emotional depth to the film.
A notable highlight of the trailer is a special appearance by Aamir Khan. The Dangal actor appears as himself on his TV show Satyamev Jayate in the episode where Hanumant Kendre appeared to talk about his revolutionising journey. This show, which aired from 2012 to 2014, was known for addressing various social issues affecting India.

Priyanka Chopra shared the trailer on social media, writing, 'This is more than a storymdashit's a fight for survival.' As the founder of Purple Pebble Pictures, she has been vocal about her desire to tell stories that matter. She said, 'Through Purple Pebble Pictures, we want to bring stories that need to be heard and stories that bring focus on pressing concerns, and our film Paani embodies everything that we believe in."The teaser for Paani was launched in grand fashion at Mumbai's iconic Lalbaugcha Raja, an important venue for the city's famous Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Chopra expressed her excitement, saying, "This film is special and so relevant for the time we're living in...I am super thrilled, and can't wait for the people to watch it."
