Veteran Marathi Actor Atul Parchure Passes Away at 57 Due to Cancer

In a tragic loss to the Marathi and Hindi entertainment industries, veteran actor Atul Parchure passed away on Monday, October 14, at the age of 57. The talented actor, who was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances in films, television, and theatre. His death has deeply saddened fans and colleagues alike, many of whom took to social media to express their grief and pay their respects.
Battle with Cancer
Atul Parchure had opened up about his battle with cancer in a candid appearance on a talk show. He revealed, 'I was told I have a tumour about 5 centimetres long in my liver and that it is cancerous.'Unfortunately, a misdiagnosis early in his treatment worsened his condition. Speaking about his ordeal, he said, 'My first procedure after the diagnosis went wrong, affecting my pancreas and leading to various complications. The incorrect treatment actually aggravated my condition. I was unable to walk and struggled to speak clearly. In that state, the doctor advised me to wait for a month and a half. They warned that undergoing surgery could result in long-term jaundice or severe liver complications, potentially jeopardising my survival. Eventually, I sought a second opinion, switched doctors, and received the appropriate medication and chemotherapy.'
Despite undergoing treatment, the disease took a significant toll on his health, and he spent his final years battling complications.

Tributes from the Industry
Many of Parchure's colleagues and fans shared heartfelt messages on social media after the news of his passing. Actress Supriya Pilgaonkar, a close friend, wrote on Instagram, 'Dear friend, you shouldn't have been like this, you fought a lot! You have tolerated a lot. You will always be missed. Your silly smile will always be missed. May your soul rest in peace and have the strength to endure the pain of the family.'Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also paid tribute, calling his passing a "premature exit of a clever actor." He shared a note in Marathi, describing Parchure as someone who could make audiences laugh and cry and praising his significant contributions to drama, film, and television.
