Radio City Freedom Awards Season 7: Anurag Tagat, Heena Kriplani And More, Meet The Esteemed Jury
Radio City Freedom Awards is back with its season 7 and it is only getting bigger, better, and bolder. With over nine categories, we have received an overwhelming response of over 800 entries from across the country. Radio City Freedom Awards is the only Indian platform that accepts and advocates for independent songs in all languages across the country. If you have followed the past seasons of RCFA, you would have an idea about how the who's who of indie music space come together on our jury panel to select the winners in each category.
For Radio City Freedom Awards 2023, we have a rather special set of jury members who have done some disruptive work in the independent music space. While some are label owners who have encouraged and promoted even more indie music artists, others are renowned journalists who come with an extensive level of experience in the music industry.
1. Atul Churamani -Managing Director at Turnkey Music amp Publishing Pvt. Ltd., Atul Churamani truly believes music to be a serious business. His experience and commitment to good music have led him to be a pivotal persona in the independent music space.
2. Vijay Basrur - The founder of OkListen, Vijay Basrur created a homegrown platform that could pave a meaningful and legitimate way for independent music in India. He has worked with and encouraged over 4,000 independent artists across the country.
3. Aishwarya Natarajan - Aishwarya Natarajan is the founder of Indianuance - an artist management and consulting firm, with a keen focus on Indian classical music, folk music, and its sibling forms.
4. Heena Kriplani - The head of TuneCore, Heena Kriplani comes with a solid 18 years of experience in the music industry. With an intent to represent local music on a global level, Heena and her firm strive to make independent truly independent.
5. Anurag Tagat - An assistant editor at Rolling Stone and a freelance music journalist, Anurag Tagat's vision and eye for detail for the indie music industry are like no others. Forming a community of indie music lovers, Tagat has also contributed his expertise with popular opinionated platforms like Variety, The Hindu, FirstPost, and more.
6. Narendra Kusnur -Narendra Kusnur is one of India's best music journalist who loved to deep dive into the world of native Indian music. Born with a musical spoon, Narendra is currently covering all genres, writing for various publications, and thoroughly enjoys curating music.
As we said, this year's RCFA is only getting bigger, better, and bolder. Bridging boundaries by acknowledging and encouraging musicians from across the country, we know no language, caste, or sex barriers. We received over 800 entries in 9 different categories.
