Akshay Kumar`s much-awaited sequel narrates the untold story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. For the uninitiated, British General Dyer ordered a mass killing in 1919 at Amritsar`s popular ground, where thousands of unarmed patriots had gathered to protest against the Rowlatt Act.
It was during the 1919 annual Baisakhi fair that almost 10,000 men, women, and children were gathered in a ground that was enclosed with huge walls and had only one exit gate.

April 18, 2025, marks the 106th anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The makers of Kesari 2 thought this would add an emotional depth to the subject and decided to postpone the release.
Akshay Kumar announced the film`s release date on X (previously Twitter) and wrote, “He held his head high. He beat them at their game. He told them where to go. A genocide India must know about. A revolution painted in courage. #KesariChapter2 teaser is out now! In cinemas 18th April, worldwide.”
