In a significant move reflecting national sentiment, the highly anticipated audio launch of Kamal Haasan`s upcoming film "Thug Life," has been postponed. The event, originally slated for May 16, 2025, in Chennai, has been deferred due to the prevailing heightened at India`s borders.
Haasan further elaborated on the need for civic responsibility, stating, “As citizens, it is our duty to respond with restraint and solidarity. Celebration must make way for reflection.” This decision comes a few days after the actor praised the Indian armed forces for "Operation Sindoor," a major military operation targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
"Thug Life" is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year, primarily because it reunites two titans of Tamil cinema: Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam. Their last collaboration, the iconic "Nayakan" (1987), remains a classic. The anticipation for their new venture, described as an action gangster drama, is immense.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and Abhirami. Kamal Haasan is set to portray a character named Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickan in what Mani Ratnam`s production house, Madras Talkies, has described as "an epic tale of power, rebellion, and triumph."
The film`s music is composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman, and the first single, ‘Jinguchaa’, was launched with much fanfare in April. Cinematography is handled by Ravi K. Chandran, editing by Sreekar Prasad, and stunt choreography by the Anbariv duo.
