Diljit Dosanjh Joins Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan In Border 2, Shares Announcement

Border 2 has become one of the highly anticipated movies ever since it was announced. While there were many rumors going on about the cast of the film, two actors have been zeroed in to play pivotal roles. Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan join Anurag Singh's battallion.

The Border 2 family is getting bigger and more interesting. After the two incredible actors, it is Diljit Dosanjh who joined the cast. The Punjabi actor-singer has proved his mettle in acting by delivering some sensational performances. It will be interesting to see him donning a uniform.

For the uninitiated, the upcoming army drama marks the sequel to the 1997 release, Border. The JP Dutta directorial starred a stellar cast of Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff, among others.

Diljit Dosanjh joins Border 2

After Varun Dhawan's stunning entry, the makers have roped in the actor-singer for playing a pivotal role in the film. He will be seen wearing an army uniform as they narrate the story of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Taking it to his Instagram, the Good Newwz actor shared the announcement video of him joining the star cast of Border 2. Sharing the same, he wrote, "Pehli Goli Dushman Chalaega aur Akhri Goli Hum! Honoured to stand with such a powerful team and walk in the footsteps of our soldiers!"

A motion poster was also shared by the makers with 'Sandese Aate Hai' verse playing in the background. It had 'The bravest come together for the biggest war' written on it after Diljit Dosanjh's name was revealed.

Sharing the same, the makers captioned, 'The battlefield grows mightier with Diljit Dosanjh stepping in alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan on the frontline of Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta's Border 2 for the Anurag Singh directorial! #Border2 hits the theaters on January 23, 2026.'

Apart from this, the makers also announced that the film will see a theatrical release in January 2026. The film will go on floors in November 2024, as the cast is currently wrapping up their ongoing projects.

JP Dutta's daughter takes the Border legacy forward

The iconic filmmaker, who helmed the 1997 blockbuster, has officially handed over the baton to his daughter. Nidhi Dutta, who will be producing the film, has also written it.

'My daughter is my strength. I'm giving the responsibility of the franchise to the strongest part of me. She has written the film, so it's her baby. I've never directed a film I haven't written. My eyes welled up when she told me the story of Border 2,' JP Dutta said.

He also mentioned that he will be closely involved in the process, as soldiers and armymen have placed their trust in him to tell some untold stories.

The filmmaker further added, 'I will make sure that the feeling of patriotism and the heroes it's based on are given justice,' he added, assuring that Nidhi is 'conscious of her responsibility towards the armed forces. She has balanced the essence of India with all the valour of the troops.'

Helmed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 showcases a different chapter of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.
